Parents and advocates will learn to recognize an adequate Response to Intervention process, what rights parents have in the process and the responsibilities of school districts to inform parents throughout the process. The session will also provide participants with information and strategies that will help enable them to ensure students who have not yet been identified as having learning disabilities are not being delayed or denied special education evaluations, due to the tier process being used. Participants will also learn the requirements in IDEA 2004 regarding the use of RtI as a component of evaluation. Participants will be provided with specific questions to ask, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding the tier process and evaluations.
