ABLE Accounts: New Financial Power For Persons with Disabilities

Mississippi recently launched its new ABLE accounts program under the federal Achieving a Better Life Experience Act. This law allows persons who were disabled prior to age 26 to have a checking and savings account, similar to college savings accounts, that will not disqualify them for SSI and Medicaid benefits. This presentation will explain how ABLE accounts are opened, what they can be spent for, and how they can provide financial independence while protecting those valuable public benefits.
